The laying and seated cats along with the 1986 dogs were all part of this original first run series.  These were in production starting 10/15/1986 per patent information.  This run was shipped directly to Ty’s residence which were then airbrushed, repacked, and shipped to retailers just in time for Christmas of 1986. No documentation exists for these cats, no order forms or flyers have ever surfaced as these were probably all sold by Ty Warner and Patricia Roche personally bringing examples to retailers and gift shows writing in orders with blank invoices. Since the entire production cycle completed within the year of 1986 I would designate these examples as part of the “1986 Collection”.
