VERSIONS
Patti comes in two primary colors – fuchsia and raspberry. Each color is further divided into two shades – Deep Fuchsia and Fuchsia (for fuchsia) and Raspberry and Magenta/Maroon (for raspberry), making a total of four colors. The Deep Fuchsia shade has a slightly darker look due to its velvety texture, while the Fuchsia shade has a brighter appearance as its fabric lies flat and reflects more light. On the other hand, Deep Fuchsia’s velvety fabric reflects less light, giving it a deeper hue with no sheen.
The first generation of Patti has a beak that is shaped like a spoon, while all subsequent generations have a beak with a more angular shape.
Patti the Platypus was released as part of the “original 9” Beanie Babies, along with Spot, Squealer, Brownie, Chocolate, Legs, Flash, Splash, and Pinchers.
CHRONOLOGY
“Original 9” Beanies introduced in the UK were first issued with this “Pre-1st generation” hang tag (left). “Original 9” Korean beanies were later issued with a UK sticker on the backs of 1g Korean hang tags (right).
