JAKE

Style #: 7001

Jake has an interesting journey.  As we knew him for most of our collecting, years 1996-2023, we knew him as the smaller “JAKE” and larger “BIG JAKE” who was also called “SUPER JAKE” early on.  The first big surprise was when “JAKE JR.” popped up in 2017, he was a big surprise for us although he was mentioned once before back in 1999.  He was first named “JAKE JR.” and then later changed to just “JAKE”. The EARTH SHAKING find by Chris was in 2023 when a small heart “SUPER JAKE” with tag surfaced…. only that on the tag it is named “JAKE”?!?!?  Aha! LOL it was the fact the smaller Jake was named “JAKE JR.” that it only made sense “SUPER JAKE” was just “JAKE” at the beginning.  So it appears the names transitioned as follows:

JAKE/JAKE JR.

SUPER JAKE/JAKE JR.

BIG JAKE/JAKE

“JAKE” Small heart

Tush tag version 3g, paired with the 5g hang tag.

Jake the monkey or to be scientific Jake the Ape was first released in 1987 in a white style titled “Jake Jr.” Later the Jr. was dropped and he was just Jake. The versions to follow were Jake white, Jake auburn, Jake brown, and Jake chocolate.

The chronologic variations of Jake are illustrated with the three columns for the versions distributed at any given time.  The first two Jake white were distributed before jake auburn or brown were released.  The first version for jake auburn with the 1b style hang tag has not been located at this time.  There additionally should be a 2a version of the original style for each jake featured here with the TYWL hang tag.
