The 1991 Tush Tag
In 1991 Ty continued this trend with many more styles. Remember these are plush with 1991 tush tags which would be released mid year 1991 and featured in the 1992 catalog.
The cats gained Maggie.
Scruffy the dog now comes in a very brief run of a cream color! Spanky the Saint Bernard another brief release, along with Buckshot a scarce puppy. Barney is retired after this year.
Bandit is now BROWN!
CHI CHI make a reappearance! With a return of the flat style.
Peepers gains FEET!
The Jake series grows longer arms with velcro palms again.
The standing bears leather noses are now plastic.
Freddy lays flat on his belly now.
AND MORE BEARS!!!!!!
Curly now in large sizes but Curly dark brown is retired. Shaggy a new style of teddies in brown and gold twist fabric in regular, large and JUMBO sizes. Rags the most adorable bear yet! Don’t forget the prayer bears!
Scruffy the bear now comes in beige, light gold, and cream.
With the turn of this year 1992 Collectable bear is released, the final collectable bear.
Ty at this point has released many jointed bears between Beanie Bear, Big Beanie Bear, Scruffy, and the collectible bears leading up to the release of attic treasures in late 1992 which are generally smaller jointed bears. With their release the jointed plush named above retire.
Note below large rumples was in the 1995 catalog and released in 1994 and would be expected to have a 1994 tush tag, it appears that its pattern was originally patent in 1991 when large PJ, Large Curly, and Large PJ were released and thus all large bears of this pattern share a 1991 tush tag. The others in this group first appeared in the 1992 catalog which follows the same pattern for which all plush seem to have a tush tag year the year before the catalog release. Super PJ will have a 1990 tush tag and would be a similar build however this change in tush tag year when a plush transitioned from “super” to “large” seems to be consistent among other styles.
