I will run through tush tag versions as chronologically as possible. Each attic does not travel through tush tag versions in the same order however I assure you this has been an exhaustive process. With the permission of SalsAttic.com I have reassembled their meticulous work to create a very detail rich compendium. The designers’ account of each attic’s chronology was enriched with data from copyright dates, catalogs, order forms, and invoices. I will highlight distinguishing changes that make each tush tag unique on this page.

1A “Woolie” Tush Tag
The smallest tush tag, the second example is a bit bolder font but no significance has been noted.

1A “Wide Woolie” Tush Tag
A direct comparison to show the differences in the “Woolie” which is not as wide as the “Wide Woolie” tush tag. Both are considered 1A tush tags.
1A “Large” Tush Tag
1A “Large” is much larger and has a different font, the font varies in boldness with the “1” changing font starting with a larger base. Also HAND MADE has a space on the first example.
Found on: Tiny Tim, Tyler humpback, Henry Brown, Gilbert Burgundy bow, Dexter, Fraser, Digby humpback, and Nola big feet and head bow. This is the earliest tush tag to reach the UK as they did not receive attics until 1994. Examples identified in the UK include Digby humpback and Nola

The font matches the Large 1A version above but is printed on the usual-sized tush tag and meets criteria for 1B with the comma.

This tush tag does not increase the value of the attic treasure, only noted here for completeness, as it is uncommon most attics likely exist but have not been identified.

This will be the only time I will designate a PVC pellet tush tag as its own version. Remember version 1B does not note PVC pellets but version 2 does. Later tush tag versions below will note with or without PVC pellets within the same version. This means at some point for example Tyler who has PVC pellets would be shipped with a 1B tush tag that does not state the fact that it has PVC pellets. Tyler would then later be shipped with a version 2 tush tag alongside for example Fraser with a 1B tush tag since he does not have PVC pellets. So Tyler can come with version 1B or 2 but Fraser will never have a version 2 tush tag or any tush tag mentioning PVC pellets.
A rare example has broken the rule stated above. For example, Oscar has been identified with a tush tag noting it has PVC pellets, but this appears to be a matter of a factory error. I do not consider this to be desirable and this would not increase the value of the Attic Treasure.

Found on current releases but importantly first run attics released on 11/5/1994 with 2nd generation “Beanie Baby Collection” hang tags. This release of attics underwent changes as seen in the January 1995 Catalog.
The quick xerox and go style of this tush tag is kind of a snap shot for this transitional year at ty, Its this exact period of time that errors on tags at Ty Inc. proliferated across all product lines. Several of the Ty plush classic line had errors and stickers (Rumpkin instead of Pumpkin, Whinny instead of Whinnie, Baby Lovie mistaken for Lovie, Baby Sparky with Elvis sticker, Sam with Sally Winny sticker, Charlie spelled Chariie) and Wee Willie was spelled Wee Wijjie. I believe the need for scrapping and reprinting corrected tags led to some attics missing out on a 3rd generation tag run. Prior to this, errors were less common.
Notable first run second generation attics with “Beanie Babies Collection” (BBC) tags: Rebecca first run only fabric, center bow (first run only), Wee Wijjie large bow first run fabric.

The difference between 5.1 and 5.2 is subtle however these versions have been noted as long as attics have been collected. You might say, these versions are really one version, they just ran out of ink. I would agree however some attics appear to only come one way. Maybe time will tell us otherwise and for that reason I have at least settled them both under Version 5.
