The 1986 Sitting Cats

The 1986 Sitting cats come in a series of six cute and cuddly stunning examples of Tys best work released in the following styles.

Style# 2001 Cesha (white, blue eyes)
Style# 2002 Baby Cesha
Style# 2003 Kimchi (Tan, brown eyes)
Style# 2004 Baby Kimchi
Style# 2005 Tasha (Grey, blue eyes)
Style# 2006 Baby Tasha

These came in three colors as noted above. The grey and tan example were made with a duo chromatic type long plush fur with airbrushed points of charcoal accents on their face, ears, feet, and tail. They also each have a paper swing tag, ty charm, and embroidered tush tag.

Rant Alert! the following will provide a lot of excess detail and so if you are here for basics read no further.

The 1986 sitting cats are a subset of the original first release series of 1986 cats released in the latter half of 1986. These do not appear in any flyer known to exist currently and no order form or documentation of their existence has been available either. From an early quote about the series, ty remarked that Ty Inc. started with 10 Himalayan cats. I have been informed that the flat run of 1986 1st run plush was designed first. These original ten would bear the names Kashmir, Baby Kashmir, Kasha, Baby Kasha, Bijan, Baby Bijan, these were accompanied by four dogs: Schusha, baby Schusha, Schnapps, and Baby Schnapps. This adds up to ten. I know this sounds contradictory but I believe for simplicity Ty generalized them as Himalayan cats even when 4 were actually dogs. So when Ty presented the original 10 flat Himalayan cats and dogs at his first toy show.  Feedback during the toy show led to the production of the sitting cats. These were quickly released and included with the original 10 from the best I can tell as they all have identical fabric along with identical hang tags and tush tags. I was finally able to complete the series on January 9th 2021.
