SCHUSHA LIVES!

SCHUSHA

SCHUSHA has finally been found!!!! I have been looking for him for some time. Several years ago I found a very vague post from the eBay internet archives. The listing was titled “1st gen SCHUSHA plush classic with charm” along side a post for BABY SCHNAPPS. Who was this Schusha plush, and what type of animal were they? Schusha does not exist in any of the known catalogs. ( If you happen to have a Ty flyer from 1986 please contact us)

BABY SCHNAPPS

.

I felt pretty confident Schusha was most likely a 1st run 1986 dog. I knew 1st run name variations are usually more exotic versions of the 2nd run 1986 release. KASHMIR -> ANGORA for example. So I felt certain.

Well low and behold SCHUSHA has made an appearance. Alicia H. found him in at an estate sale hidden away in a closet. She knew she found a gem, and rescued him! Thank you Alicia!!!

SCHUSHA is a very interesting plush. He isn’t named “BABY SCHUSHA”, but he is the 10” size typically designated as the baby size however his style number 3002 is typical for baby sized plush during this run as styles ending in 1 are always regular size in the 1st run and ending in 2 is the baby size. Just odd that BABY SCHNAPPS (of the second run) has the style number 3001.

This raises some questions, why are they numbered SCHNAPPS 3000, BABY SCHNAPPS 3001 and SUPER SCHNAPPS 3002 in the second run. Many theories are possible. The grey and white dog who has no name is possibly occupied style number 3003 so 3000 was assigned to SCHNAPPS (regular size) but it doesn’t explain why the style numbers flipped and as usually with Ty, anything is possible.

Dog who has no name

I would like to credit Michelle N. for helping me find 1986 Dog who has no name (Pictured Above). (I kinda kid that he has no name because I have not found him with a tag yet.)

Also credit to Karen B. who found me the example of BABY SCHNAPPS years ago originally residing in the estate of Mary Saunders (Ty rep).
